I have always been an avid gym bunny from ever since I can remember, I am a sucker for cardio, boxing and the odd bit of Zumba, but just recently I have incorporated weight lifting into my weekly routine. I’ve been lucky enough to have personal training classes with the ex Head Personal Trainer at Hale Country Club and ex Marine, Paul Boys, who is now the Founder of gymwear brand MAN UP Official. It was on a recent training session that he asked if I wanted to model for his new collection. I had previously modelled in the past (10 years ago!!) for commercial and glamour in my early twenties, but not in fitness!!
Since having Rocco in 2014, my body has never been the same. My ‘kangaroo pouch’ will never be as taught, and my bum will never be as pert, and my energy levels will never be like it was in my 20’s. I have to train harder and results take longer, but I enjoy it, and its important to me to keep fit and stay in shape. Some days I’d rather have a movie night (with sugary snacks!) and duvet days with my boys, so its about doing everything in moderation, and not put to much pressure on yourself or your body. I have always followed Paul’s nutritional advice, eating fats for breakfast, protein for lunch and smart carbs for dinner, I would exercise every day and I saw results gradually along way.
The prospect of modelling for a fitness and gymwear brand was a little daunting but I thought, why not? Especially when I found out that the photographer was going to be Scott Ninness, who did my first ever modelling portfolio when I was 21! This was going to be a fun day. I arrived on set with Rocco in tow, as he loved been on photo shoots, it was relaxed, friendly and Rocco had all the other models feeding him snacks, loving life, while I was in hair and make up.
The new collection is called the Stealth range – all black with a discrete white logo. The range comes as a bra top, shorts and ankle length leggings. The flattering fabric is flexible, breathable and designed to flatter the female torso.
The shoot got into full swing, the music was pumping and the atmosphere was amazing. Scott was on top form getting great shot after shot and 4 hours later it was time to wrap! I have been wearing the new collection in my training sessions and the comfort and durability is fantastic, as well as feeling and looking great in all the garments. The collection is now available online at MAN UP Official.
