Having a baby the second time around doesn’t involve as much planning, and nesting, especially since I’m having another baby boy. I bought so much for Rocco because he was my first born, and I was so excited to buy and try so many new things. This time I am more relaxed, less frantic and definitely more sensible. I still have so many things that Rocco only used once or twice which were neatly stored away for baby number two. But on the flip side, I also have hard wearing essentials such travel systems and moses baskets that I kept in great condition and don’t need to be purchased again.

My biggest investments for the new baby has been the Silver Cross Nostalgia Sleight Cot bed and Dressing Unit (£949.99) new bedding and of course a collection of new little outfits and shoes. I am obsessed with white, cream and beige at the moment, even though its not a practical colour, but I was baby blued until I was blue in the face the first time round so I wanted to keep everything crisp and neutral.

I came across the Sleepyhead of Sweden brand on Instagram a few weeks ago, who manufacture multi-functioning baby sleeping pods. They can be used for newborns up until 36 months, and can be placed anywhere in your home while baby sleeps peacefully. Babies often feel safe when they are ‘cocooned’, so these looked like a fabulous innovative creation. The pods can be used as crib reducers or relaxing on the sofa. They are lightweight with a top handle so you can take them away with you on your travels rather can having to dismantle and set up bulky moses baskets or travel cots. The soft cotton pods have removable covers for washing with care and when baby get bigger, the pods unclip at the bottom so they can stretch their legs.

I was sold immediately and delighted when mine arrived this week all the way from Sweden. I ordered the Deluxe (£150) and I cant wait for baby to use it, as snug as a bug in a rug!
